A photo booth just isn’t the same without props. That’s what makes them so much fun! Where else can you quickly grow a mustache, pucker up those mega lips and sport a feathered boa? The prop chest is your oyster.
PixBooth from Curator lets you take it a step further. Instead of lugging tables of props from event to event, we’ve simply built them into the photo booth for you! There are 100’s of pre-built props to choose from, or with some photo editing skills you can create your own.
Before you can create your own custom photo booth prop, you first have to procure the necessary equipment. Adobe Photoshop is the most popular photo editing tool, though GIMP is a free, open-source option.
Download the Curator prop template HERE.
First, choose what scale your prop will be — we use 3 main scales:
Open the corresponding PhotoShop file — there are separate files for each prop scale.
Add your prop as its own layer and test it with the various faces and bodies provided. Your prop can be anything! You’re only limited by your imagination.
Export your prop ALONE as a transparent PNG (Use File > Export > Quick Export as PNG for best results). Do not include any of the faces/bodies or any background. See example below:
Additionally, for reference, you can export a sample of what your prop will look like in use (ie. the 3 images at top) which has the person and background with the prop.
Next, copy this image into the Curator Prop Selector Template Photoshop file, scale it to about 30%, and position it on one of the characters.
This will become the selector you see in PixBooth to choose the prop.
Export this as a transparent PNG (Use File > Export > Quick Export as PNG for best results).
Upload the prop to the store HERE. We will need both the PROP and SELECTOR image in order to add your prop. Please specify which scale you used and whether or not we can make this prop available to others.
